To You

To you with problems ahead of you that seem so big… I want to encourage you tonight to listen for Jesus. Listen close and hear him whisper, “I am bigger.”

To you who feels so weak tonight and so rightfully sure that you don’t have what it takes… I want to encourage you tonight to close your eyes and fix your heart on Jesus. Because he is there- right in that place with you. May you feel his peace wrap around your heart and here him whisper, “I have what it takes and I am with you.”

And to you, who has come to know, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that on your own, there are so very many things that are impossible, that you simply cannot and will not ever do. Can I tell you something tonight? To you Jesus whispers, “With God all things are possible.”

And to you who wrestles daily with fear, who fights to find peace, who trembles inside at the tribulations ahead. Yes, tribulation will come, just as Jesus said. But listen close to His voice one more time. He spoke it, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Did you hear what he said? “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.” His warnings of tribulation were not meant to scare you, but to assure you… That the only One strong enough to conquer the world is available to you. May you lay your head down on your pillow tonight and rest in His peace.

A prayer:
Sweet Savior Jesus, you are never too far, but all too often, I am. Help me to draw close to you tonight and rest in your presence, your goodness and your love. Thank you. Yes, thank you. Amen.

Distractions from the Main Attraction

Worry, fear, doubt, anxiety… They are all just one big distraction from the Main Attraction.

Fix your eyes on Jesus and those distractions will fade.

Once again there will be peace.

There will be joy.

There will be faith.

There will be trust.

There will be time to breathe and smile.

Time to slow down and just savior the goodness of the Savior.

There will be time to knock the dirt off your soul and simply feel his love washing over you, his spirit strengthening you.

There is time to enjoy the present, but you must stop allowing fear of the future to steal that time.

There is time to rest.

It is ok to just rest.

It is ok to simply stop and trust that God will move the mountain.

He will.

HE will.

But you will miss those moments of rest if you spend all your time scheming and working on ways to move it.

Fix your eyes on Jesus tonight.

Don’t allow the distractions to be the main attraction.

Discouraged or Anxious?

I lead a group of young ladies at our local church on Wednesday nights. Last night God touched our meeting in such an incredible way. Each and everyone of these young ladies were dealing with anxiety and discouragement. Each and every one. And something my heart has been pondering was only confirmed in that meeting last night: One of the enemy’s greatest tactic’s is discouragement, and another of his favorites is anxiety.

Nehemiah 9:10 says the JOY of The Lord is our strength. What better way to steal joy than with discouragement and anxiety?

Make me anxious about tomorrow and I will miss the joy of today.

Make me discouraged enough about areas where I have fallen short and perhaps I will stop trying all together.

But remind me of Christ, his love, his purpose, his strength, his power, his gift of right now…

And Joy returns.

Peace floods a room.

Faith cannot share living quarters with anxiety.
Discouragement cannot bunk up with Joy.

If you have been feeling discouraged or anxious, perhaps it is time to serve some eviction notices.

Go ahead, tape these words to your heart:

“Discouragement and anxiety- you are out of here, by the power of Jesus Christ.

Joy, contentment, encouragement, peace and power… Come on in. There is plenty of room for you now.”

God loves you friends. He is for you. And every breath you breathe is a gift from him. Every need you have is known by him. You have nothing, absolutely nothing to fear with him as your guide.

Right now, in this very moment, is the chance for JOY and PEACE. Don’t miss it. CHOOSE it. Choose JOY. Choose PEACE. Choose FAITH in Christ and rest in His love.

Sleep Well Precious Reader

While holding our son tonight, I believe I was finally able to express in some small degree what I feel when I hold a sleeping child.

I wanted to share it with you tonight as a reminder to you- that you are God’s child and there is nothing, Absolutely Nothing, worth losing sleep over.

Sleep well tonight precious reader.

You are in your Father’s arms.

The Divine Epidural

Some people look at me like I am some sort of a super woman because I am about to give birth to our sixth child. I can assure you, I am far from a super woman. My grandmother on the other hand, now that is a super woman. She had 11 kids and to the best of my knowledge she had them all naturally.

Not I. Say what you will, but I tried once to “go natural.” I felt the pains and endured them for hours, only to end up breaking down and taking the epidural. The difference was like night and day. I went from horrible pains that were producing very little to no progress in my labor, to literally sleeping through intense, productive, labor and birthing a child almost entirely pain free. I have opted for an epidural with each of my deliveries. Like I said, no Super Woman here. I am weak and I grow weary and I enjoy the rest. I did suffer from some horrible headaches after one of my deliveries, most likely due to the epidural, but overall, still well worth the trade off.

I don’t write this to advocate epidurals or stir up some debate over natural vs. medicated labor- to each their own. I simply write it because I am nine months pregnant and lately, every evening, I am reminded of the pains of labor.

I try to toss and turn through “false” labor pain after pain and as I do I am reminded of a promise Jesus made to us. He said, “”Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

Laboring in vain is painful. It causes you to lose sleep, become anxious and disappointed and it is entirely fruitless. Have you been there?

Have you been anxiously awaiting the “birth” of something in your own life? Have you “felt it” coming for some time, only to find that day after day, it still has not come? Are you growing weary from the labor?

I feel your pain tonight and I want to assure you of one thing- It will come.

Now you can opt to keep “feeling the pain” or you can opt for The Divine Epidural. You can opt forJesus Christ. You can confess that you are weak and tired and in desperate need of rest. You can call for Jesus, receive his peace and rest well, knowing that He is still working. Your delivery is on the way, and there will be no headaches to follow its arrival, thanks to the One Who matters most.

Laboring with you,
Charity

Save Me, Fill Me

Image

Are you battling depression, fear, anxiety? Are you feeling empty or struggling to hold on to any ounce of joy? We all at some point find ourselves in that place. I wanted to suggest a prayer that has helped me when I find my heart heavy and my spirit weak. It is a simple prayer really, and one that I find myself praying over and over again, “Save me, fill me.”

The fact is, we all need a savior. And the salvation that Jesus offers is not just from our sins but also from everything we need saved from. We need saved from the consequences of our mistakes (our sin) and we need saved from the many things in this life that try to destroy our spirit and steal our joy.

Today I encourage you to ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and any lack of faith that you are experiencing. Ask him to save you and fill you, and make the choice to trust him, follow him and live for him. It is not just a one time prayer, but a daily prayer we all need. I encourage you to pray it today. The peace and strength that follow are incredible.
