My father-in-law stayed with our family over the spring. My mother stayed with us over the summer. If you don’t have the benefit of having grandparents near-by, as is with our family, one thing becomes very clear when they come to visit: Life is so much easier when a grandparent is in town.
While my father-in-law was here he continued to amaze me with his creative genius. He was always busy creating new things to bring joy to our boys. His very nature reminded me of the creative nature of God.
While my mother was here, she so beautifully portrayed the love that God has for me and our family and His
desire to provide the help we need. What impressed me the most about my mom was her constant willingness to help.
It is always sad when grandma or grandpa have to leave, but I am comforted knowing that God has surrounded our family with many other precious friends who have continued to display the love of God to our family. People who are willing to lay aside their own agenda in order to show the love of God to others are such a blessing
As I thought on this, I began questioning my own willingness. When God puts someone on my heart, have I been willing to do as He leads? Did I take the time to pray when I felt led to pray? Did I call when I felt led to call? Did I stop by when felt led to stop by? Am I truly willing to allow God to use me to reflect His love or am I too wrapped in my own agendas?
This week, when God puts someone on your heart, will you be willing to do as He leads? Will you pray if you feel led to pray? Will you call if you feel led to call? Will you stop by if you feel led to stop by? Are you truly willing to allow God to use you to reflect His love? Tough questions, I know. And the answers to these questions are what matters most.
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. – Psalm 143:10
